The SBMU Mahdiyeh Hospital Sabouhi Infertility Ward Opened

The SBMU Mahdiyeh Hospital Sabouhi Infertility Ward was opened by the attendance of the Vice-Deputy in Educational Affairs of the ministry of Health, Treatment & Medical Education, Professor Ziaie, and Professor Peyvandi, the SBMU Chancellor.

At the beginning of the inauguration ceremony, Professor Mehrdad Izadi, the SBMU Mahdiyeh Hospital Director briefed the audience on the history of the hospital and commemorated Late Mahdi Sabouhi Kheyri, the founder of the hospital who had used his three-acre land in 1950’s as a charity for rendering infertility services for patients.

While noting to the point that the hospital building had been a bit old, Professor Izadi further added: “the renovation and reconstruction of the hospital had been at our agenda, and regarding the rate of infertility at the national level, it was thought to have an infertility ward at the hospital in the South of Tehran. Therefore, since 2009, the infertility treatments had started at a limited level in the hospital, and when the rate of patients’ presence grew, it became mandatory to open a ward as big as this.”

He then added: “since 2009, there have been some 3000 patients referring to us for infertility reasons, and around 1400 patients have received specialized services with a 35 % rate of success in fertility, showing a good statistics at the national level.”
